Tomorrow’s the Day! | First Day at PJH

Tomorrow is our first day in a new building with new routines, new traffic patterns, and a few new systems. We have a plan, but I can promise you we will not be in midseason form on Day 1. We’ll pay attention to what works, fix what doesn’t, and get 1% better every day.
School Day & Arrival
The school day is 8:00 a.m.–3:40 p.m. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. Students should enter through the JH gym entrance (car riders) and report to the cafeteria. Bus riders will be dropped off at the front door of the JH. We will give every student a new paper schedule in the cafeteria tomorrow morning, and our staff will help students get where they need to go. Hallways will open at 7:50 a.m.
Stadium Drive will run one way from east to west from 7:20–8:00 a.m. It will be closed to through traffic during the school day. Students arriving after 8:00 may enter through the front office. The attached parent meeting slides include the arrival map.
Dismissal
Dismissal is at 3:40 p.m. Stadium Drive will again run one way from east to west from 3:15–4:00 p.m. Sixth-grade pickup is at the JH gym. Seventh- and eighth-grade pickup is in the Performing Arts/FieldHouse line. If siblings are being picked up together, older students will go to the sixth-grade line with their sixth-grade sibling. Students who will regularly walk home should have their parent notify Mrs. Smith in the front office.
One correction to the attached parent meeting slides: the dismissal slide still shows the morning traffic time. The correct afternoon window is 3:15–4:00 p.m.
Week at a Glance — WAGs
Attached are our first Week at a Glance documents for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. The goal is simple: give families one place to see what is coming in their student’s classes. These are also our teachers’ first draft at this new communication system, so expect us to keep refining them as we learn what is most useful. Beginning next week, grade-level WAGs will be sent through ParentSquare each Monday at 10:00 a.m.
A Few Day 1 Reminders
Students should show up in dress code, keep phones powered off and put away during the school day, and bring something to read. Tomorrow (and the rest of this week) is intentionally a lot of learning about how PJH works: schedules, classrooms, routines, expectations, and getting comfortable in our new home. 
7th & 8th Grade Athletics
Athletes will meet in the cafeteria at the beginning of 8th period tomorrow. Wednesday will be organization, equipment/locker issue, rules and expectations. There will be no football practice Wednesday. Thursday and Friday, football practice will be during the athletics period only. Wednesday pickup is 3:45 p.m., Thursday pickup is 4:00 p.m., and Friday pickup is 2:30 p.m. RAK CHAZAK!

We’re ready to get started. Tomorrow won’t be perfect, and it doesn’t need to be. We’ll show up, do our work, be kind, and come back Thursday 1% better than we were Wednesday.
